Steven Alan is a New York City native who opened his first eponymous apparel store in Soho in 1994. For over 25 years, he has designed his own globally-recognized line of crisply-tailored essentials, all produced in the United States. His approach to design is grounded in his obsession with fabric and details, resulting in idiosyncratic choices like twisted plackets and external seams on the cult-favorite Reverse Seam.

Steven’s earned his reputation equally from his own brand and from his ability to identify and bring together the world’s most interesting other brands. Steven Alan was the first U.S. retailer to carry now-internationally established brands like Acne Studios, Kitsune, Engineered Garments and Mansur Gavriel, and the store currently carries a carefully-edited selection of clothing, jewelry and objects from locations including Japan, Belgium, Mexico and of course New York.
